Dr. Upasana Sarma is a highly skilled Research Engineer with expertise in the design, modelling, and control of Fuel cell-based energy systems. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. Her PhD dissertation is based on the "Design and Control of PEM Fuel Cell-Battery-Hybrid Energy System for Locomotive Applications". She has submitted her thesis and is currently awaiting evaluation. Dr. Sarma has acquired various fruitful experiences both in computer-based simulation work and hardware during her academic career. Her current and past research experiences include investigating the benefits and implementation difficulties related to the use of fuel cell-based hybrid energy systems in transportation, modelling and designing fuel cell-based hybrid energy systems with optimum capital costs incurred in its deployment, developing energy management approaches to regulate the power flow in the hybrid energy system for real-time application, hardware design and control of power converters, experimental analysis of the dynamic performance of the PEM fuel cell-battery-hybrid energy system prototype to supply the locomotive load, and load frequency control of multi-area, multi-source systems using classical I, PI, and PID, fuzzy logic, and two degrees of freedom controllers. Dr. Sarma has hands-on experience in electrical circuit design, wiring diagram, and PCB design of DC/DC power converters, gate driver circuits, sensor circuits, control circuits, etc. She is also proficient in various circuit and system simulation software like MATLAB/SIMULINK, LTspice, Multisim, NEXA OSC and RSC software, and mathematical programming tool like GAMS. Dr. Sarma is familiar with Design spark, a PCB design tool, and has thorough knowledge of the schematic and layout of PCB. She is also an expert in using TEXAS INSTRUMENTS TMS320F28335 DSP kit. Dr. Sarma is currently looking for job opportunities in industries, preferably in R&D sectors, where she can fruitfully manifest her research expertise and technical skills acquired so far during her academic career to real-world projects. She has excellent communication skills with good oral and presentation abilities and is proficient in technical writing. Dr. Sarma is a Research Scientist with Spark as her relevant experience and has worked as a Summer Intern at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, and as a Summer Trainee at Power Grid.
